as i am thinking of going back to pay as you go from contract as my bills are high which is better pay and go or contractalso my hours in work are being cut down as well as the wages so i am thinking a contract isnt such a good idea

A question about pay as you go mobile phones?
is it true that now if you go to buy a pay as you go mobile phone , because you want to stay off the system and anonymous , top it up as you need etc , that you wont be able because in new phones today there is already a tracking device in new phones that identify who you are, where you live etc so it wont matter if you get a pay as you go mobile because you would still get registered on the system ?or is it still safe to buy a pay as you go phone , your anonymous without a worry ?

Basically I want to know if the credit runs out at the end of each month or does it stay as it is? I know if you top up 15 you can triple but its not carried over, but what I want is a phone I can add say 10 to, and it will stay on there for months if not used.Thanks zoot, thats exactly what i needed to know. Hi,My motorola razr has finally popped it's clogs its lights flash repeatedly but it won't turn on so I think its time to get a new phone.I'm on O2 pay as you go and would like to stay that way, but I'm confused by the different mobiles available.My budget HAS to be less than 70, the cheaper the better, but I need something reliable and easy to use. Not bothered about getting the internet on it etc, but a good camera would be nice.My experience with the razr wasn't too good in general, and I've always had Nokias before that.Need to get a new phone asap so would rather it was a shop based deal, but if I can get something significantly better online with swift delivery I'd consider it.I really don't wnt to change my number and am happy on pay as you go.Does anyone have any recomendations? my phone has been unlocked to the o2 network and l have quite alot of credit left on it, l want to unlock it to t mobile, am i right in believing that if i do this, l can still put the o2 sim in, that o2 will still work on it and all my credit will still be left on it.
Can you recommend a pay as you go mobile phone which has at least 4 out of these 5 requirements for me?

ok, here's the story. i signed up with vodafone for an 18 month contract now i'm 6 months in, haven't got insurance, and accidently dropped the handset.it still works, a little scratched and tempermental, but nothing of any concern. the thing is the whole dropping thing has made me think that i want a new handset.i've researched into buying sim free handsets and they are well overpriced.my question is if i buy a pay as you go handset from the same network as my contract, can i use my contract sim in the pay as you go with full functionality?if not is there a way around this?
